Postal privatization in Japan

"For postal operations to be kept in good shape , we need a reform that can bring into being an efficient, well-governed organization (...) As far as privatizing the postal services goes, I am in favor if the plan is a good one, meaning that it will help turn them into a set of organizations that work efficiently and are well-governed. I oppose any privatization plan that is likely to do the opposite. Privatization is but a means to an end; it does not in itself have inherent value." (Ikeo Kazuhito: A Bad Plan for Postal Privatization. In: Japan Echo 2/2005, p. 29).
